A short drive or bike ride away you will find great areas for hiking and birdwatching around the salt lake Laguna Salada de Torrevieja and further into the country lake Embalse de la Pedrera. San Miguel has several very good restaurants, including Las Cuevas (caves) which as the name suggests is located in a cave in the mountain.
