San Pedro del Pinatar is located at the northern end of the Mar Menor, Alfonso XI recounts in his Libro de la Montería, written during the 14th century, that El Pinatar, the name by which the area was once known, "was a thick forest mass where hunting was carried out in winter the boar ." It received its current name at the beginning of the 17th century, after the construction of a small temple that the fishermen dedicated to Saint Peter the Apostle and Fisherman. This town has two festivals declared of Regional Tourist Interest, such as the Holy Week of San Pedro del Pinatar in the Mar Menor and the Fiestas of the Virgen del Carmen which are celebrated on July 16.

The town offers the residents and visitors 14 kilometers of coastline divided between two seas: Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea. Extensive beaches from which to dive. El Mojón beach, Torre Derribada, is separated by the breakwater from the port. The beaches of La Llana that make up Playa de las Salinas, Barraca Quemada, and Punta de Algas, are all of them located in the Regional Park of Las Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar. They have in common that they are open and deep beaches, with dunes of fine sand and warm waters, very Mediterranean and solitary, even in the summer months.

This location is also great for sports lovers from water sports, cycling, hiking, and we cannot forget golf.
